Money magazine ranks ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ in its Best College list

Money magazine has ranked the University of North Georgia (ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥) as one of the Best Colleges in 2019 in the .

ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ ranked as one of the top five public universities in Georgia along with Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Georgia, Georgia College and State University, and Georgia State University.

"This ranking is one more indicator that ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ is committed to providing a high-quality, affordable education," ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ President Bonita C. Jacobs said. "We are proud of the educational value and experience ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ provides its students."

This is not the first time ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ earned this recognition. In 2014, ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ was also one of the top five public universities in Georgia named to Money magazine's inaugural "Best Colleges" list.

based on more than 19,000 data points including graduation rates, tuition fees, family borrowing, and alumni salaries to identify the colleges that best combine quality and affordability. Money also used 26 other factors in three categories, including quality of education, affordability and outcomes. The result was a mix of 744 colleges across the nation.

"ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ is committed to helping students fulfill their potential through its high-performing academic programs, nationally competitive scholarships, global internships, and leadership development opportunities," Jacobs said. "Further, our Board of Regents remains committed to affordability and minimizing tuition increases, and ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ has made great progress in reducing student debt through scholarship support, our Student Money Management Center, and low-cost textbooks."

ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ has been a national top-producer of Fulbright awards for two years. In 2019, ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ student John Blessing became the university’s first Truman Scholar, winning one the nation's most prestigious scholarships for graduate school.

In July, ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ was among Kiplinger's Personal Finance Best College Values for the sixth time. ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ was one of only five public universities in Georgia to be listed for 2019 and it remained the institution with the lowest amount of student debt at graduation in the state.

ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ has also been highlighted by U.S. News and World Report as the top college in the South and number two in the nation for the lowest amount of student debt at graduation.
