Reveille will set vision for higher education

University of North Georgia (ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥) President Michael Shannon is hosting "Reveille: Awakening the Future of Higher Education" at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 and 10 a.m. Aug. 8 in the Convocation Center at ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥'s Dahlonega Campus.
Shannon joined ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ in July 2023, and since that time, he has helped the university embrace the mindset of a "150-year-old startup" — a blend of rich legacy and the necessity to reinvent continually. Agility, daring and boldness have been the cornerstones of the approach.
"At ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥, we are working to create a university that has never existed before. Is that a bold proposition? Absolutely. But our nation, communities and industries need people who dare boldly enough to make a difference," Shannon said. "And with our rich history of producing agile-minded leaders, ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥ is uniquely equipped and prepared to lead from the front.”
