, the University of North Georgia's (ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥) student literary magazine, has announced the winners of its annual writing contest.
The Review holds a writing contest each fall semester where students are encouraged to contribute outstanding, original work in five categories: poetry, short story, one-act play, formal essay, and creative nonfiction. Winners in each genre are published in the Review and awarded $100 for first place, $50 second place, and $25 third place.
First- and second-place winners in each category are automatically entered into the Southern Literary Festival's writing contest. Runners-up in each category have their work published in a special digital edition.

"The annual writing contest is judged by professional poets and writers outside of ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥, and in addition to their glowing award citations, many of them asked if they could split first place or include an honorable mention, which speaks to the quality of ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥'s student writers," said Ezekiel Black, lecturer of English and faculty advisor for the Review.
