You Be the Judge: Copyright and Fair Use in the Courts

Posted: December 11, 2018

We're pleased to announce that registration is now open for an upcoming workshop titled "You Be the Judge: Copyright & Fair Use in the Courts." Terri Bell, ÎçÒ¹¿ì²¥'s Copyright Officer, will facilitate.

Through analyzing three copyright infringement lawsuits, this workshop will explore how the four factors of fair use are applied. Two lawsuits represent the category of Education/Scholarship/Research, and the third lawsuit is in the Film/Audiovisual category.

This will be a discussion-based presentation where participants will be involved in:

  • performing an analysis of the respective issues of each case
  • weighing the case against the four fair use factors
  • comparing their opinions with the court's final ruling on each case

A workshop will be held on the Dahlonega Campus in Dunlap Hall 211A on Friday, February 8, 2019, from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
A workshop will be held on the Gainesville Campus in Nesbitt 3203 on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.

To register for either workshop, please fill out a CTLL  form.

Please feel free to send any copyright questions for discussion to Terri Bell at Terri.Bell@ung.edu in advance of the workshop.
